The Alabama track team begins SEC championship competition today in Lexington, Ky. The Tide will have 38 athletes (18 men, 20 women) compete in 18 events. Alabama action kicks off at 1 p.m. ET (Noon CT) when the women's pole vault and women's long jump are slated for competition. The Tide will compete in a total of 12 events on the track on Friday. All but one of these events are preliminary races in which athletes must run to qualify for the final races held on Saturday. Alabama will have athletes competing in six field events also.
